For example, changing `photo.heic` to `photo.jpg` won't turn it into a JPEG. Having trouble uploading a photo or document? Different devices save files in different formats, and some may not be accepted by your Stemble assignment. For image uploads, use **JPG, JPEG, PNG, or WEBP**, unless your assignment specifies otherwise. Here's how to save your work in a compatible format. --- ### **Step 1: Convert Your File (Recommended)** Choose your device and follow the steps below. #### **iPhone or iPad** *For newer devices with the Preview app.* 1. Open your photo or PDF in **Preview**. 2. Tap the menu beside the filename, then **Export**. 3. Open your picture in **Gallery** or your photo app. 2. Look for **Export** or **Save as**. 3. If available, choose **JPEG** or **PNG** and save a new copy. Conversion options vary by phone. Open your file in **Preview**. 2. Click **File → Export**. 3. Choose **JPEG** or **PNG**, then click **Save**. Choose **JPEG picture** or **PNG picture**, then save. If your file won't open in Paint, or you're working with a PDF, try Step 2. Open your file and make sure your **entire answer is visible**. 2. Take a screenshot using your device. 3. If your work is blurry or cut off, use the conversion method instead. --- ### **Step 3: Upload Your New File** You're ready to upload! Before submitting: - Make sure your new image is **JPG, JPEG, PNG, or WEBP**. - Make sure **all your work is clear and readable**. - Upload the **new image**, not your original file. --- ### **Other Conversion Options (Optional)** You can also use a third-party app or website to convert your file. These services are not operated or managed by Stemble, so we recommend reviewing their privacy practices before uploading your work or personal information. --- ### **Avoid This Problem in the Future (Optional)** You can adjust your phone's camera settings to save future photos in a more compatible format. - **iPhone or iPad:** Select **Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible**.[Apple's instructions](https://support.apple.com/en-ca/116944). - **Samsung Galaxy:** Open **Camera → Settings** and turn off **High efficiency pictures** or **HEIF**, if available.[Samsung's instructions](https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10001353/). - **Other Android phones:** Camera settings vary by device. Look for a photo-format setting and choose JPEG if available. *These changes only affect new photos.
