Converting .HEIC or .PDF Files to JPEG for Uploads

If your image upload fails, it might be because your device saved it as a .HEIC (from iPhones/iPads) or a .PDF (from a scanner).

Stemble’s AI reads .jpg, .png, and .webp images best.

To fix this:

On iPhone/iPad: Switch your camera format to “Most Compatible” in Settings, or convert images using the Files app.
If it’s a PDF: Take a clear photo or use an online converter to turn it into a .jpg.
Once converted, your upload should go through without a hitch.

📂 Why You’re Seeing a File Type Error

If your image upload isn’t working, it might be because your file is in a format the AI can’t read — like .HEIC (used by Apple devices) or .PDF (used by scanners or export tools).
Stemble’s AI works best with .JPG, .JPEG, or .PNG image files.

🍎 Convert .HEIC Files (Apple Devices)

Option 1: Change your camera settings (recommended)

Go to Settings → Camera → Formats
Select Most Compatible
- All future photos will now save as JPEG automatically.

Option 2: Convert an existing .HEIC photo

Using the Files app (newer iOS):

Open your Photos app and select the image.
Tap Share → Save to Files.
Choose a folder, then open the Files app.
Tap and hold the file → Quick Actions → Convert Image → JPEG.

Using an online converter:
Search for “HEIC to JPG converter” and upload your photo — just make sure it’s a trusted site.

🧾 Convert a .PDF to JPEG or PNG

If you accidentally uploaded a PDF instead of an image:

On a computer:

Open your PDF.
Take a screenshot of the full page (make sure the drawing is clear).
Save the screenshot — it’ll usually be in .PNG format, which you can upload to Stemble.

Or use a converter:
Search online for “PDF to JPG converter” and upload your file. Save the converted image, then upload it to your task.
